This would be held at the Country Club of one of the Partners.
What would be a fun form of entertainment for a Christmas Party at an accounting firm, conservative yet fun?
January 19th, 2009Are shooting ranges turning into country clubs?
January 19th, 2009I was wondering about shooting ranges rules. I have to admit, that I’m not a conasuier of shooting ranges and other than military ranges have only shot at a couple of different ones in Texas, WA, and Illinois.
A previous poster had posted some people had gotten annoyed and started a fight at a shooting range about a dress code. Personally I can’t imagine joining a shooting range that had a dress code. All I’m concerned about when I go to the range is that the safety rules are STRICTLY enforced, I could care less what the guy in the lane next to me is wearing. I also can’t imagine a no smoking policy on the outdoor range which I guess is also a rule there. What about chaw? Heck the range I shoot at has holders for drinks and paper cups above the ashtray for chaw.
Is this becoming the norm? Are shooting ranges becoming trendy with dress codes, smoking bans outside? Has the latte crowd and yuppies invaded the shooting world as well?
Just to be clear I have no problems living with the rules, I just have a problem with the rules being there in the first place. As far as smoking I hazard I don’t buy it. Where I shoot, and most of the ranges that I’ve shot at in the past there is a safety lane about 10-15 feet behind the firing line for smoking between firing sessions while people are replacing their targets. There is no way you will convince me that this is more hazardous than muzzle flashes, hot brass, percussion caps, etc. Indoor ranges of course are an exception to this.
And as far as the dress code, I’ve worn fatigues most of my adult life, both in the military and out of if. Those are what I wear when I go hunting, working on the car, weekends, etc. To say I can’t wear my old fatigues when I go out to the range is ridiculous. But I guess it’s better than the 70s when I didn’t wear my fatigues off base because of the hassles from the anti-war crowd and the anti-military.

January 18th, 2009Who besides me is a golf widow?
January 9th, 2009My husband plays almost every day then plays cards at the country club after playing golf. He has a 1 handicap and played for the first time this summer in the state individual play, he is in 4th place in his age devision. And please don’t recommend that I play with him, can you imagine someone that is not that interested playing with someone as good as he is…not fun.
It’s fire baby.
As a married or committed person, have you ever daydreamed about someone else and what could have been?

December 10th, 2008How do you politely inform people that they are not invited to the wedding?
November 15th, 2008My fiance and I are paying for our own wedding. We’re having our reception at a country club with a specific minimum that we don’t want to go over - if any “extra” guests show up then we automatically have to pay about $68/head. So we are trying to keep the guest list under a certain number. I’ve come across numerous people, mainly just acquaintances, who automatically assume that they are coming. It really puts me in an awkward position when they say “So I’m getting an invite right??” or “I can’t wait to go to your wedding!”. Frankly I’ve never made an assumption that I would be a guest at someone’s wedding, so I’m a little surprised to see how many people who actually do - especially those that I’m not even good friends with!! I don’t mind these people, but again we are on a budget and I’d rather have our money spent on family and good friends. How do you respond to people who have such expectations on you?
Why do wealthy people spend a lot of their time golfing?
November 14th, 2008Im a line cook insearch of advice from fellow line cooks?
November 12th, 2008I jus recently got working again because Im canadian and I had to do the immagration thing but I applied at a country club here with great expectations for the establishment I thought it would be a great place to brush up on my skills sense it has been a while and I could learn some great things . I was very disappointed when i saw the menu its not worth mentioning so I thought fine maybe everything is made from scratch like im use to .I hold high standards for food quality because I’ve worked at some damn fine restaurants where everything from the freash cut steaks to the salads were made right there. But majority of the food is premade from sysco which i guess is fine but at a country club I would have thought better .To top it off my executive chef is fresh out of school and dident even know how to butter fly shrip much less no her own menu Where im at for the time being the only other option is chilis until i get on me feet again what do i do what would you do ?
I myself dont want to talk down on any fellow cook but its eating at me i dont know what to do . ! have the same qualifications as she does and more experience . I have only seen her in the kitchen once trying to cook something and it wasent even good enough to put out i was kinda shocked she was goin to put something out like that because she has a manager position here also shes doin other things but it seems like shes playing it takes her 2 hours to go buy some iceberg lettuce and some lunch meat im feaking out becasue we have a wedding saturaday and im not sure whats goin to happen I have to prep for that and run the kitchen as normal for lunch i just feel like she doesent have enough experience to be exec I dont want to hurt my career because of some one else cooking is my life so if some one has been through something like this what did you do I new to this job I feel like I cant reallt say anything besacuse I am new but im not the only one talking about these things at my job .
