No where in the invitation does it say anything about it. Now, my husband, he doesn’t have to wear a suit and tie I would think. A nice dress shirt and pants should be OK for him, right?

I think times have become more casual. If you are talking about any type of denim, I say no. If you are talking about trousers that are really nice, I say, “why not?”……………….I know that in my area, they are acceptable at church functions all the time. It is more important to be there, than to worry about how you will look. Remember that, above all.
I think first and foremost you should check the invite to see if there is a clothing suggestion (ie black tie/cocktail attire/white tie) If not then I don’t think its unheard of. However they would have to be pretty dressy maybe a dark colour and or something with some sparkle especially on the shirt. I think it also depends on the accessories that you put with it. The fancier the hair/make-up/shoes the better off you’d be. When in doubt you can always ask a bridesmaid or other person involved in the planning who would know the suggested attire.
