My fiance and I are paying for our own wedding. We’re having our reception at a country club with a specific minimum that we don’t want to go over – if any “extra” guests show up then we automatically have to pay about $68/head. So we are trying to keep the guest list under a certain number. I’ve come across numerous people, mainly just acquaintances, who automatically assume that they are coming. It really puts me in an awkward position when they say “So I’m getting an invite right??” or “I can’t wait to go to your wedding!”. Frankly I’ve never made an assumption that I would be a guest at someone’s wedding, so I’m a little surprised to see how many people who actually do – especially those that I’m not even good friends with!! I don’t mind these people, but again we are on a budget and I’d rather have our money spent on family and good friends. How do you respond to people who have such expectations on you?

My fiance and I are having our wedding at a country club that offers ceremonies and receptions. How do I indicate that on the invitation? The room for ceremony and reception is the same room…after the ceremony is over the staff will “flip” the room and make it the reception room. They’ll do this while we have our receiving line and will only take them about 10 minutes. How do I let people know the reception is at the same place? Thanks!

I am attending a wedding in Boston in just a few days. I am going to be meeting my boyfriend’s family. They are pretty conservative. The wedding is going to at 2:00 in the afternoon and then the reception is at 6:00 for dinner and dancing at a country club. I don’t really want to wear black OR white. What can I wear!!! AND, do I have to wear pantyhose..

We are on a tight budget. Is this place reasonable, are the staff polite and great to work with? How is the food?

December 2009 in Florida. It is going to be during the day at a country club. My color ideas are Burgundy and Gold ( not confirmed ) so open to more ideas. I just dont know aside from the normal floating candles or candle votives with mirrors that just seems so played out..Any ideas or suggestions would be great..Thanks.
